Tomahawk supports BYATA in their strategy to rebuild youth tourism

Tomahawk is delighted to continue its gold sponsorship support of the 2022 Backpacker Youth Adventure Tourism Association 11th Annual Conference. 

Highlighting the significant contribution of the youth tourism market, which nearly reached a sizeable $1b in holiday spend pre-covid*, is an important agenda item for BYATA and something which Tomahawk wholeheartedly advocates in the rebuilding of tourism to New Zealand.  Tomahawk is committed to the industry building core digital skills and online presence that enable members to better target youth travellers.   

Renee Goodsell, Head of Digital for Tomahawk is excited to be reuniting with the sector: 

“We believe the backpacker market is fundamental to the New Zealand visitor economy, and the BYATA conference has always been one of our must-attend annual events! It’s interactive, collaborative and hands down the most dynamic of the tourism conferences. We look forward to adding elements of fun, innovation and strategy to the agenda.

Youth visiting Aotearoa play an important role in our industry, not only as visitors, but also as workers in many industries, notably hospitality and tourism businesses. We need to harness the opportunity to attract them to New Zealand with its untamed wilderness and rich culture, recognising their high value to our communities and the economy.  

Chris Sperring, Chair of BYATA, is thrilled about the return of the conference and Tomahawks involvement: 

“BYATA is back to celebrate the best little tourism conference on the circuit. We know our members are as excited as we are to get back to what our sector does best. Face to face engagement with rich story telling.

The Annual BYATA conference is open to all in the tourism industry and will be held 25-26 August in Central Auckland. It has been nearly 3 years since the last conference so it is without a doubt a welcome event for the backpacker, youth and adventure tourism industry to gather and connect.
