Content Tools we LOVE for creating stories

By on

The marketing industry loves buzz words, One that has stuck around for a while, and we wholeheartedly agree with is ‘content is king’ (well actually it’s a buzz-phrase). Here at Tomahawk we tend to be more inclined to say content is King, Queen and well, the whole monarchy!

Content can be text, photos, videos, blogs and many more shared across various channels. Today, we are specifically looking at some of our favourite tools to create visual content that can be shared across social media.

Canva

All T-Hawks here at Tomahawk love Canva! This tool is so easy to use and has a great range of templates with a simple drag and drop functionality. They also have a great app for both ios and android or you can use it on your desktop. Canva also has a super blog on their site that offers great inspiration and some tutorial videos (all 3 minutes or under).

Promo

We use this tool to make some great low budget, fun and energetic, high impact videos for social media. The platform is easy to use and there are heaps of videos to suit any message. To complement the video they also have a library packed full of music and an editing tool that make the whole process very user-friendly.

Promo if FREE to try but when you are ready to export the videos the subscription plans start at $39.00 per month (that’s an Uber Eats meal – for one).

Binumi

Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared with 10% when reading it in text. Because of the power of video, Tomahawk searched for the very best video tool and found Binumi. The team at Tomahawk love Binumi, not just for the ease and advanced platform, but the story behind how it came to be. This revolutionary new video platform helps tourism businesses and DMOs unlock the art of storytelling. They offer access to more than 3 million clips and 700 music tracks. The platform also allows you to mix their stock video with your own user-generated or B reel video to create authentic, engaging stories.

We have partnered with Binumi to offer a fantastic start-up offer to get you started. You can read more about this here.

Planoly

If you are a visual person like we are, Planoly is the tool for you. The app and website lets you plan, discover, schedule and engage all your Instagram content in one place. Here at Tomahawk we use Planoly to help find User Generated Content (UGC) that we can share and build communities for our customers. Their blog has heaps of great tips and tricks. One of our favourites is ‘How to Plan Your Instagram Stories Takeover.’ Collaboration is a great part of Social Media and really helps widen your online audience.

Planoly has a FREE basic version, letting you wet your feet. To take advantage of their full range of features plans start at US$7 per month (about $10 NZD each month)

Make storytelling easy and find out more here.

Boomerang

This is a fun, Instagram app that has been around since Adam was a boy! An oldie, but a goodie that probably needs little to no introduction. Find someone (or something) that is moving, and the app will take ten snaps turning them into a charming mini video that loops back and forth.

The App is 100% FREE and content can be saved and shared across any of your social platforms. Boomerang definitely gets 10/10 for fun!

If you have iPhone you can download here, and Android over here.

Layout

Another great tool from Instagram! Remix your own photos (up to 9 at a time) to create one of a kind collages. This is a great way to tell a story in a small space. The app is intuitive and has a great selection of layouts to choose from as well as a flip option to get the layout just right. Note: don’t go overboard as you still want to stay on brand and classy.

No account needed to set up and Layout is absolutely FREE.

Those with iPhone can find Layout here, and if you have Android here.

What we love most about these tools is that they are really cost effective (sometimes even FREE) and can make your day to day marketing easy, engaging and fun.

We are always looking for new tools and trick to help make content engaging and user-friendly so if you have any that you love, let us know so we can check them out and share!
